An existential crisis, while the chamber spins on
But I keep spinning.
Not out of bravery,
but because even a loaded gun needs a finger to pull it,
and I’ve run out of fingers to blame.
Still, there’s something hauntingly human
about this perpetual trying.
This absurd insistence on brushing your teeth
even though the world might end at noon.
On watering your plants
even though you don’t believe in tomorrow.​​

A Matron Age
Elan was born in the Age of Matrons, where policy was drafted by midwives and scholars bled monthly with sacred precision. Empathy was taught at universities like calculus once was, its formulas far more intricate. The national exam included sections on intuition calibration, generational healing theory, and maternal poetics. He scored well in spatial reasoning, strength index, and mechanical logic. That was enough to get him into Labor Sciences - a fine track for a boy.

He was grateful. Labor Sciences was stable, clean. Men built bridges, repaired vehicles, maintained infrastructure. Women built governments.
